Mansfield

The first place where we stopped, was Mansfield, a name that can be suggestive for women that are looking for couple, but is actually a small town where is true that have many fields, but the majority without cultivating and that if you are looking for a man, you should go to the center of town and not to the fields.

The village has what all village must have, bar, and more than one. Aside it has a few stores of diverse specialties and until it has a supermarket, something that by the towns of around my city is not habitual, at least those of Mansfield‘s dimension.

The surrounding landscape was agreeable, full of mounts with fields of pasture for the cattle and closely together a quite great lake where the weekend goes people with their boats to fish. Although I do not have many photographies, I saw the dawns and more beautiful dusks of all my trip. But with the kangaroos there was no luck, in fact I began to suspect that they were only a legend and that they were only possible to be seen in the traffic signals.

In Masnfield I gathered cherries, thing that before I had never made, well,  rather nobody had paid to me never to do it, neither had either been picking up them as much time, nor so fast, since here they pay it by boxes and not per hours. Only the useful thing that I can tell you, is that if a day you must gather cherries, you take some thing to protect the big toes and indices of the hands, since they finish aching enough.

Finalized the season of the cherries we moved towards Cobram, a town a little bigger than Mansfield (this one has 2 supermarkets), where there abound the fields with nectarines, peaches, plums and apples. In fact, aside from the apples, that take shelter later, it’s that we are gathering and it’s from here from where I write the three sections dedicated to Australia, refugee in the library of the outer high temperatures, paragraphs that I will not publish until arriving at home, since I don’t want to have any kind of problem with immigration.

Now only I have left 11 days to return to Lleida and after these 6 months in Australia working like an illegal one, already I begin to have desire of not having to worry about the papers, although in my country, I know that the labor subject can much more be difficult than it has been here.

Ah! by the way, in Cobram finally I could see the kangaroos, is as easy as to go to give a stroll during the dawn or the dusk, by the fields that there are around the town.

I come back home and therefore here there is ended the diary of this trip, that I will perhaps extend in the future but that at the moment I believe that it spent time enough until I can return to travel. I hope that you have liked, until the next one.

Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road

Great Ocean Road

Improved my skills in the kitchen, specially at the moment of peeling, cutting up and fillet food, we decide that already it was the moment to change place.

We needed a car, someone advised us to buying it in an auction, since in Melbourne there are a place where every week sell at auction more than 400 vehicles. We did a visit to see since as it was working and later the following weeks we were twice more until finally we buy a car. The problem was that after the mechanical review, which is obligatory when a automobile is bought and it prove that this one was done a shit and only it was serving to sell it to pieces, thankfully they returned us the money. But we needed a vehicle as soon as possible, since on having bought the car I warn to the company that I was leaving the work in a couple of weeks, and Melbourne can be the best city of the world, but also it is a very expensive city to be without work.

We start searching throughout, until finally we find a car inside the budget that we had, it was not very big, but it would be useful to us.

We had planned to be going to look for work toVictoria’s fields, to gather fruit, but before we wanted to see the Great Ocean Road, so once we had everything in the car, we begin the route to cross the south coast between Melbourne and Port Fairy.

The first places with coast, it were very long beaches of sand bathed by waters with strong currents. As we were advancing the sand of the beaches were mixed with stones or rocky zones, up to we coming to the zone of 12 apostles, where the cliffs were dominating the whole coast.

Arranged by all the way, it had stop areas where park the car and visit calmly the coast and in the zone of cliffs, it had in some occasions installed stairs of wood to be able to go down up to the beach and see from downstairs the sight of the vertical walls of yellow stone.

To half a way, we turn aside towards Cape Otaway, where there are a lighthouse, which we do not manage to see, since the entry it was excessively expensive for what they were offering, or at least it is what seemed to us, at least it is it what we think on having seen the photos that were in the reception desk, in addition already we had seen a similar lighthouse a few kilometres before and according to the map there was other one in a next population. Some of you will think it doesn’t have very much sense that I speak about this, but the people who knows me know that sometimes to explain a thing I beat about the bush and I give more turns that a fan and if I don’t forget what I wanted to explain, everything ends up to making sense. So we did not see the lighthouse, but approximately 3 kilometres after taking the road that was going even there, we saw for the first time koalas, a heap of koalas that were leaving in its way the eucalyptuses without any leaf.

Now only it was necessary to us to see kangaroos, so once done the Great Ocean Road, we continue with the foreseen plans and we were towards Victoria’s fields.

Melbourne

After Vietnam, I took a flight that brought me next to Seonghye, up to Australia, more concretely to Melbourne, one of the cities of the world, best valued by their inhabitants, if it isn’t the most valued. The first days in a western country was welcome,  since the last part of the trip had not been the best, but after few days the great city and the life of their people seemed to me so artificial as any big city of any supposedly civilized country.

The problem was that I had to work to recover the lost money that I had reserved to be here, and in this country as in the majority, you need a visa that allows you to work and not one of tourism that was the one that I had. But I had heard that in Australia it was relatively easy to find a work where they were paying you under the table.

The search of work lasted a bit more than one month, in all the interviews when there was coming the moment to ask what kind of visa I had, the response was the same, without working visa nothing at all, but when I already was starting to thinking that it would be impossible, I was lucky, becauset in a restaurant they gave to me the opportunity, they offered me 2 h of tial without compensation, after which they would decide if I was continuing or not, and at the end two hours turned into 8 hours of remunerated work and the possibility of being able to be employed at the kitchen as kitchen hand.

I was employed 3 months and a half at Melbourne, and I extended my visa of 3 months changing it into other one that would allow me to be 3 more months. The salary was not very good, since only I was working 3 days at week and few weeks 4, but it afford me to pay a room shared with Seonghye, the food, the bicycle with I got arround and save some dollar.
